Sure, it won’t have all the skill trees and long-term hero-based PvE progression that fans were promised back in 2019 and the decision to charge $15 for access to co-op story missions remains questionable. Invasion is effectively a soft relaunch of Overwatch 2. There’s more hype to come, especially when we find out more details about the new support hero in the next couple of weeks.
ARGs can help to build intrigue and hype around a game, and that’s something Blizzard is evidently trying to do right now. Long-time Overwatch fans will remember that Blizzard ran an ARG before Sombra joined the lineup.
